Happy Valmiki Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of the sage Maharishi Valmiki. This day is also popularly known as Pargat Diwas. Valmiki Jayanti is celebrated every year on the full moon day during the Ashwin month. Maharishi Valmiki has great importance as he was the first poet of Sanskrit literature.
